Part of the Glenlivet Whisky Distillery until 1952, Hillview can accommodate 14 people in its light, luxuriously-furnished rooms.
Nestled within the stunning Cairngorms scenery, the cottage has a combination of cosy fireplaces, wonderfully tactile exposed wooden floors and beams, and a kitchen fit for the most passionate cook.
It’s just a short walk to the home of the famous Speyside single malt, where you can learn about the dangerous, bygone world of whisky smugglers, see how Glenlivet whisky is made, tour the distillery, and take afternoon tea in the Old Maltings Coffee Shop – a place famed for its delicious whisky cake.
Whisky aficonados can also visit The Richmond Arms Hotel in Tomintoul, where there are 35 individual malts from Speyside, Islay, the Lowlands, and the Highland region.
Take a trip to the Rothiemurchus Estate Farm Shop in Inverdrurie for Rothiemurchus Highland beef, Forest venison, and local cheeses and beer.
If ale is more your tipple, visit the Cairngorm Brewery in Aviemore for a tour and to sample its beers. There is also excellent fishing nearby for anglers.
Hillview is the perfect base for a food tour of the Highlands, and the perfect venue for a family get-away, house party, or for a friends’ reunion.
Whatever the temperature, you can also take in the mountains and watch the local wildlife from the warmth of your cottage’s hot tub.
There are fantastic cycle trails through the Crown Estate, wonderful walks right from the doorstep, and great ski resorts within a short drive. The Lech Ski Resort is 20 minutes away, while the Cairngorms Mountain Resort is 50 minutes away.
